Another Beautiful Fall
by Adam Bagy
As this stifling, humid summer comes to an end, we enter the most fantastic season of fashion. The Fall Collections have arrived at the stores, and we have a multitude of pretty little things to play with. As cooler weather approaches we can style ourselves with more layers, outerwear and luxurious new pieces.
Reinvent your wardrobe with some fall accessories. Buying key pieces can bring to life an otherwise boring garment. Throw some variety into the mix as well. A chic fall jacket, clutch or shoes can update almost any look. A bold Versace scarf over a black jacket easily adds that desperately needed pop of color. Be a little daring and buy a designer piece that isn't black! You're not always in mourning just because you live in Manhattan.
After you are done shopping the collections and updating your style for the season, you should be ready for New York Fashion Week. The weeklong runway shows begin on September 9th. This biannual event is New York's chance to show Paris, Milan and London what we have to offer.
Lincoln Center will be full of designers, models, press, and wannabe fashionistas dying to be discovered. Over 100,000 people writing, photographing, tweeting, blogging and bitching.

It will be interesting to witness the chaos of switching venues from Bryant Park, where fashion week has been held since 1994. Fashion Week features the collections of over 70 designers.
Another evening to focus on is Fashion's Night Out on September 10th. This is one of the most decadent nights in Manhattan. Almost every designer boutique opens their doors in the late hours for events, parties and fashion presentations. Celebrities from around the world are known to pop into stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Dior, Bergdorf and countless others from Soho to Madison Avenue. Pull out your finest couture on this evening people. It is a phenomenal combination of champagne, celebrities, fashion and style. It is the finest blend of grand and fabulous in Manhattan. What else could you ask for?
Nothing launches New York into gear like parties and events. The competition between fashion and style will be outstanding. The city will be filled with the people you want to know. Cameras will be flashing at every corner. The stilettos of countless models will be digging cracks into the sidewalk. So watch your step!

It Is a Material World
by David Gargiulo
In the last issue we talked about the new Madonna's Material Girl's collection for Macy's launched in the beginning of August. Not even a week later the pop queen was slapped back with a lawsuit for trademark infringement.
L.A. Triumph Inc. sued Madonna because they have been using the Material Girl tag since 1997. And we always thought that Madonna was the material girl...and so does she. In a recent interview to Britain's Daily Star she stated: “ Everyone relates that title to me because of the song I did like 300 years ago. It's a title I got stuck with. When I first did the song it was meant in an ironic way, as I don't think of myself as a materialistic person. I hate that name but I do love clothes and fashion and I love beautiful things ”.
L.A. Triumph feels threatened by Madonna's profile and her massive spending campaign. The plaintiff is asking the authorities to declare that Madonna's Material girl collection is deceiving and enforce the shut down of the company. They also request all the profits that Macy's received since launch...after all we are living in a material world!
