IT STARTS WITH A STEP, THEN BUILDS, LOOK BY LOOK, INTO SOMETHING FULLY REALIZED
Presented during Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026, Zimmermann continues to shape its romantic feminine identity. Under Nicky and Simone’s direction, the collection trades that familiar sun-drenched ease for a softer edge that feels more intentional. Rather than abandoning its identity, the brand narrows in on it, allowing familiar signatures to come into focus. The opening looks set the tone immediately. The tailoring is the first thing you notice; it’s clear and well-placed. The jackets hold their shape without feeling stiff, and the coats provide this sharp, architectural frame we have come to love. Where the brand used to rely on everything being fluid and airy, there’s now a sense of keeping it steady. The silhouette is deliberate, finding a balance between that signature movement and a new kind of steadiness. The romance is still there, but it’s been recalibrated. The dresses are still light, but the proportions are longer and more held back. You see volume gathered at the sleeves or hems, rather than letting it take over the body. Lace and silk are used with noticeable discipline.
The prints are where the shift feels most cinematic. The florals have gone dark and moody, moving away from that bright, "resort" energy into deeper, more seasonal tones. Patterns appear layered, sometimes softened through transparency, sometimes sharpened through tailoring. Rather than dominating the garments, print becomes integrated into silhouette, reinforcing continuity across the collection. The material choices create a sense of push and pull. Sheer fabrics meet heavier wool and structured outerwear, allowing fragility and protection to coexist. It’s that contrast between protection and letting it show that makes it feel modern. The knitwear serves as a practical hold-it-down, keeping the more romantic pieces from feeling like they belong in a different era. The collection feels aware of the world it’s in. It acknowledges the winter season without missing that inherent Zimmermann lightness. What you’re left with is a sense of certainty. This isn't a brand trying to make itself new again; it’s a brand narrowing its focus to find its true strength. By clarifying its identity and working through its proportions, Zimmermann has positioned itself within a much larger conversation about modern femininity. And as the final looks pass, what remains is a sense of coherence: a brand strengthening its language through precision, allowing romance to evolve into something more assured, and enduring. It’s the voice of a brand taking it right to the edge of enough.
